Gesto Cottage - self catering holiday accommodation on Waternish, Isle of Skye, Scotland
Gesto Cottage, in Stein village, is a listed building, dating from around 1800. Stein (Viking for 'stone'), was originally built as a fishing community. The historic and unspoilt village was designed in the 18th Century by Thomas Telford, the famous engineer, for the Scottish Fisheries Society.
The Stein Inn (dated 1609, and the oldest Inn on Skye), the Lochbay Seafood Restaurant (highly recommended by 'The Times' amongst others), together with the loch and the hillside, are all literally on our doorstep. This puts Gesto Cottage in a unique position for all your holiday requirements, no need to drive in order to eat out! The Inn and the seafood restaurant will feed you very well, and are both highly sought after by Skye tourists and locals alike.
Gesto Cottage has fully fenced lawned gardens front and rear, with a bench to enjoy those peaceful moments, and to look out over the loch and surrounding hills. Our private drive can accommodate several cars, and a large byre provides storage for bicycles, canoes etc.
The cottage is fully equipped to sleep 4/5, plus a baby. There is Satellite T.V, DVD Player, CD player, video, payphone and radio in the lounge. A real fire provides the focal point in the evening. All rooms have heating by Dimplex wall panel heaters. A second lounge provides a view over the loch and the old ruin, and has very comfortable chairs for relaxing - it also makes an ideal playroom for the children. The kitchen is modern and has a cooker, fridge, microwave and is fully equipped. There is a freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer in the byre. Also downstairs, is a toilet with hand basin.
Upstairs there is a bathroom and a toilet with an electric shower over the bath, a twin bedroom and a family room with a double bed and space for a 'put you up' for a child. There is a superb view over the loch, the hills beyond and the distant islands from both bedrooms.
